The Honorable Alan H. Nevas
United States Senior District Judge

  Judge Nevas was appointed United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut on October 17, 1985, and entered on duty October 26, 1985. He received an A.B. degree from Syracuse University in 1949 and an LL.B. degree from New York University Law School in 1951.
  Judge Nevas was in the United States Army, 1952-54; an Associate and Partner with the firm of Nevas, Nevas and Rubin, 1954-81; a member of the Connecticut General Assembly, 1971-77; a member of the State Elections Commission, 1980-81; and United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut 1981-85.
  During his service in the Connecticut General Assembly, he served as Deputy House Majority Leader and in 1976 was selected as one of the ten most outstanding members of the legislature.
  He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, has served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Bar Association and as Chairman of its Legislative Liaison Committee. He is a past President of the Federal Judges Association and is a Fellow of the Connecticut and American Bar Foundations.
  While United States Attorney, he served on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys.
