The Honorable Christopher F. Droney

  Judge Droney was appointed United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut on September 18, 1997, and entered on duty September 22, 1997.
  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Holy Cross College in 1976. In 1979, Judge Droney received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he was Notes and Comments Editor of the law review.
  From 1979-93, Judge Droney was engaged in the private practice of law in Hartford, specializing in trial work. He was a partner in the Hartford law firm of Reid & Reige, P.C. On October 21, 1993, Judge Droney was appointed United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut and served until his appointment in 1997 as District Judge. While United States Attorney, Judge Droney was a member of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys.
  Judge Droney was elected to the Town Council of West Hartford in 1983, and served as Mayor of West Hartford from 1985-89. He is married to the former Elizabeth Lawson Kelly and they have three daughters.
