NEW CJA GUIDELINE REGARDING SCHEDULING OF FEDERAL DEATH PENALTY CASE AUTHORIZATION 03/28/08

CASE BUDGET - Jerry Tritz, CJA Case Budget Attorney for the Second Circuit, will be assisting CJA appointed counsel in the case budgeting process. An Excel spreadsheet has been developed to help manage and monitor federal capital prosecution case budgets in the District of Connecticut. Please refer to the Federal Capital Attorney Training Manual for information on this process and instructions on how to complete the CJA 30 voucher and spreadsheets. For additional assistance in preparing the EXCEL spreadsheets, please contact Jerry Tritz directly at 212-857-8726. Signed CJA 30 and CJA 31 vouchers along with worksheets and accompanying receipts should be sent to Lori Inferrera, Division Manager, 141 Church Street, New Haven, Connecticut, 06510, for payment.

TRAVEL - Once the case budget (including travel) is approved, all requests for travel should be made in letter format and emailed to Lori_Inferrera@ctd.uscourts.gov and should include the following information:

Traveler's Name (attorney and/or expert)
Dates of Travel
Departure and Destination City/Country
Purpose of Travel

We will then issue a travel authorization, permitting travel at government rates. Travel arrangements should be made through Omega World Travel, which is the court's travel agency. Omega Travel can be reached at 1-866-450-0401.
